Band of Builders is sad to share the news that Keith Ellick lost his fight with cancer on Monday, March 27th, 2017, passing away peacefully at Lincoln County Hospital at the age of 42 holding his wife Sasha's hand.
Keith was a loving father, husband, friend and colleague who not only served his country as a member of the RAF Regiment but carried out subsequent jobs in security, landscaping and construction with the same commitment and drive that he approached everything with.
Addam Smith, who organised the renovation of Keith's house last year and fundraising drive to buy it for him and his family, said: “Keith was a friend, husband, daddy, veteran and the best grafter I’ve ever worked with.
“I'll miss our constant mickey-taking at work, his big bellowing laugh, and even the moaning while we sat in the van.
“It's been an absolute privilege to help this man and his family. It's changed me for the better in many ways and has become a global movement that will serve as the legacy of a great man.”
Addam’s fundraising efforts were the start of what we all now call the ‘Band of Builders’, which will continue and aim to help other tradesmen who find themselves in similar situations as Keith and his family.
Addam added: “There are plans to continue the good work that started with the Band of Builders - but will not end - with Keith and more details will be released shortly.
“In the meantime I ask for privacy for his family and loved ones so they can deal with their loss.“Rest in peace gunner, you've served your time well my friend.”
